World evangelism is very important to God. The fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) is our primary task (see section on GLM). The main emphasis of missions is to plant a local church in every community. The specific purpose of the Missions Ministry is to keep missions fresh and alive every week in the hearts and minds of the people so they may be involved in planting churches around the world. The people will be encouraged to get involved in the areas of:
- Prayer Support (1 Thessalonians 5:25)
- Financial Support (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)
- Planting Churches both at home and around the world (Acts 1:8)
In order to accomplish this purpose, the leadership of the Missions Ministry is committed...
To educate the people of the need for world evangelization and their personal responsibility before God to meet that need
- Through an annual missions conference
- Through periodic missions emphasis services throughout the year
- Through missions trips in which people can see the need firsthand, experience life on the mission field and allow God to challenge them to do more for missions
- Through a curriculum for children that will help them understand missions and will challenge them to get involved
To expose the people to all of the missionary projects and families we currently support
- Through monthly missionary reports from the field
- Through the weekly Missions Minutes program
- Through a Missionary Adoption Program
- Through missionary prayer requests
- Through a Missionary Information Board
- Through a telephone link with our missionaries on the field during regular services
To involve the people in missions
- Through planning and producing missions emphasis and the missions conference
- Through corresponding with our missionaries
- Through providing meals/housing for missionaries visiting LBT
